About WDave
Did you arrive here accidentally, or are you really curious to know what makes me tick?
I’ve been online since starting college in 1983 — long before the web, and back in the days when the new IBM PC with a 10MB hard drive was just giving way to a *20*MB drive, yowza! Usenet was limited to a handful of Unix machines (mostly DEC Vaxen), and email was arcane and difficult to use. The web hadn’t yet been invented, and you could send email only by specifying a path from your host to your recipient’s, naming every node along the way.
Anyway, now I manage web, marketing, and business analytics for a publicly traded US company, figuring out ways for us to be more successful in everything we do online. I also help manage a discussion board where a global online community of analysts exchanges best practices. (It’s a private Yahoo! Group — join the Web Analytics Forum, and just mention you heard about it here in the “Join” comments box.)
Somewhere in between, I became way over-educated, and have had the privilege of working with many, many smart, wise, talented, and kind people, from whom I’ve tried to learn everything about everything. Clearly, I haven’t quite finished yet, but with help from many generous souls, I try to get a little closer to that goal every day.
Please leave me a comment and let me know something interesting about you — with luck, it’ll teach me something about myself, too!
Thanks for your interest, and I hope to see you as a regular contributor here.
Best,
WDave
